Open Industrial Digital Ecosystem Summit
June 30, 2020 and July 1, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. EDT.
A collaboration of NIST, ISA, MIMOSA, MTConnect, and OAGi
The digital transformation drives Industry 4.0. It promises gains in productivity and agility for a wide range of industrial enterprises. However, as integration costs come down, system complexity goes up. This leaves standards developers and users alike seeking to untangle the technologies and protocols underpinning repeatable, scalable, and sustainable data management to enable transparency and accessibility from the shop floor to the top floor.
You’re invited. The 2020 Open Industrial Digital Ecosystem Summit is a two-day online meeting aimed at bringing all the stakeholders to the same page. This means bringing together the initiatives occurring at both the SDOs and the industry-user level. The agenda will include status reports and visions from participating SDOs and industrial users, followed by a discussion of ideas and needs to move forward with collaborations between SDOs to support efficient and effective industrial digital transformation. Don’t miss this opportunity to provide your input and vision.
Last year, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Open Applications Group Inc. (OAGi), and the Machinery Information Management Open System Alliance (MIMOSA) launched the 2019 Open Industrial Digital Ecosystem Summit, a cross-standard, cross-industry collaboration. Their goal was to support streamlined information transit across all levels of the manufacturing enterprise. They brought together industry practitioners and thought leaders from standards development organizations (SDOs), research institutes, and industry solution suppliers to share their desires, successes and obstacles in the new era of digital transformation journey. This year, MTConnect and the International Society of Automation (ISA) have joined the effort.
OAGi and MIMOSA both have long standardization histories focused on different, complementary domains. OAGi covers enterprise business process standardization while MIMOSA takes a leading role in standards-based interoperability with a focus on asset life-cycle information management. NIST conducts research and development on novel methods and tools, test cases, and testing tools that reduce risk of developing, using, and adopting standards, which is making standards-based interoperability a more realistic proposition. ISA develops standards, certifies industry professionals, provides education and training, publishes books and technical articles, and hosts conferences and exhibitions for automation professionals. The MTConnect Institute is a non-profit standards development organization for the open-source MTConnect standard.
