March 2020 Manufacturing ISM® Report On Business®
ISM’s Purchasing Managers’ Index released last week. While the numbers were down, it was still much better than expected. The supplier delivery index was up 8 points while the production index fell 3 points, suggesting inventories continued to weaken in the past month. These type of numbers are consistent with both the Institute for Trend Research’s and Oxford Economic’s statements to AMT members over the past two weeks that demand is still significant and that we should expect a pop in both production and capital expenditures on equipment after the end of the pandemic.
